Empire Magazine shared two masked and unmasked photos of Bruce Wayne with "Huge 2022 Preview". The visuals offer a different take on the character of Batman, played by Robert Pattinson. In addition, the magazine also includes director Matt Reeves' descriptions of the film along with the visuals.
Matt Reeves says that Batman's character design was inspired by Nirvana lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain. However, he explains in the first trailer that the band Nirvana chose the song "Something In The Way" as more than just a simple decision.
“I usually listen to music when I write. And while I was writing the first episode (of The Batman movie), I opened the song 'Someting In The Way' from Nirvana. That's when I realized that I needed to process the different side of Bruce Wayne, set in tragedy and recluse, rather than the lecherous side we watched earlier. I tied that to Gus Van Sant's Last Days, and the story of the fictional Kurt Cobain set in a decaying mansion was revealed."

Reeves also decided that Pattinson would be in the role after the Safdie Brothers' Good Time movie.
“You can really feel [Pattinson's] vulnerability and helplessness in this movie. But also its strength. I think it's a wonderful combination of these two emotions. Also, Pattinson has the Kurt Cobain vibe. He can look like a rock star and a self-isolation.”

The magazine also includes the statements of the film's lead actor, Robert Pattinson. The famous actor says that the character he plays is different from previous Batman movies.
“It's not just a different version of Bruce Wayne, it's also a different interpretation of Batman. There will be a Batman who uses less cool gadgets designed by Lucious Fox, like in Nolan's movies. Bruce has been in hiding for a long time. It doesn't get too public. He builds small equipment by himself. And even Alfred now thinks he's crazy.
“Every night for two years he went out to fight and was shot, stabbed and burned. You can see traces of it. You can see a bullet mark on his mask at the beginning of the movie. I guess this is not something that has been done before.”
The Batman movie stopped shooting due to the coronavirus pandemic. Later, when Pattinson's COVID-19 test was positive, the studies were interrupted once again. After the delays, the last announced vision date of the film has been finalized as March 4, 2022.
Directed by Matt Reeves, the film features quite remarkable names besides Pattinson. The production features a star-studded cast including Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
